Does Kirat work in claude.ai, the Claude mobile app or Claude Code on the web?
Short answer
Kirat runs in Claude Desktop chats on macOS and Windows, in Claude Code (terminal, VS Code, the Code tab of Claude Desktop, SSH) and in Claude Code cloud sessions, including Claude Code on the web and in the mobile app, after a one-time setup of the cloud environment. It does not run in chat on claude.ai in the browser, in chat in the Claude mobile apps, or in Cowork tasks that run in the cloud.
Facts at a glance
- Works in
- Claude Desktop chats (macOS, Windows), Claude Code, SSH sessions, Claude Code cloud sessions with a one-time setup
- Does not work in
- Chat on claude.ai in the browser, chat in the Claude mobile apps, Cowork tasks in the cloud
- Company setups
- Not with proxies that sign in with your Windows account (NTLM/Kerberos) or with extension allowlists
- Not tested
- WSL sessions and local Cowork tasks
Why not in the browser chat?
Kirat is a program, not a service. It works only where Claude runs tools on a machine that has Kirat installed: your computer, a remote machine over SSH, or a Claude Code cloud environment you set up once.
Limits in Claude Code cloud sessions
- Keys in environment variables are readable by everyone who uses the environment; network secrets keep them unreadable.
- The daily budget counts per session, so set spending limits at OpenAI and Google.
- Background jobs and recent results end with the session.
